NXT Gen Cup joins Formula E and DTM in 2024 - racing in Monaco, London, Norisring

NXT Gen Cup, the world's first 100% electric junior touring car cup, goes fully international in 2024 and joins the prestigious championships ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and DTM - racing in the hearts of Monaco, Berlin, London, Norisring and more.

"For NXT Gen Cup to go from an idea on paper less than two years ago to racing together with the ABB FIA Formula E and DTM this year is mind-boggling and an inspiring proof on the hard work by everyone involved," said Fredrik Lestrup, series founder.

“We have together with Formula E and DTM created a spectacular calendar which will provide our junior drivers with a robust foundation to start their racing careers and show their talents to some of the best teams and partners in the world. I want to extend a huge thanks to everyone who has made this possible and we are thoroughly motivated to start our most exciting season so far!”

The six-race NXT Gen Cup calendar will start with the Italian Formula E round at Misano on April 13-14, for a total of four E-Prix with the FIA-sanctioned all-electric world championship - including the iconic Monaco, Berlin and London street races, allowing young talents to test their skills on the same circuits as the 22 world-class Formula E drivers.

“We are delighted to welcome the NXT Gen Cup after their hugely successful debut last year. The addition of an all-electric junior category to the European part of our calendar will further contribute to the essential nurturing of young talent, a key part to our sport and give them the opportunity to race on the same stage as our world-class drivers and teams,” said said Alberto Longo, Co-Founder and Chief Championship Officer of Formula E.

Swedish-born NXT Gen Cup completed its first international races last year together with the ADAC-run DTM in Germany and will be back with one of the strongest championships in Europe for two race weekends in 2024.

The first race with DTM will take place on the spectacular Norisring street circuit in July and the season will end with the legendary Hockenheim season finale in October.

"We are very glad to further extend our cooperation with the innovative NXT Gen Cup for 2024 after a successful first couple of races last year. Our cooperation fits really well to our pioneering role in the areas of motorsport regarding initiatives such as sustainable fuel, an electric rally series and concepts for sustainable events," said ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss.

NXT Gen Cup will feature a strong field of more than 20 all-electric LRT NXT1 race cars in 2024, driven by junior talents from all over the world. The first driver announcement of the upcoming season is scheduled for next week.

Last year saw a competitive grid of the all-electric LRT NXT1 race cars being raced by 23 drivers from eight different countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Czechia, Great Britain, Germany, United States and Romania.

NXT Gen Cup features an arrive-and-drive concept, with a full season available for 80.000€ - including a robust education package in sponsor relations, company economics, PR and media relations, social media and much more.

An official pre-season test will be held in connection to the season start, with further dates and details to be announced shortly.
