Sophie Hofmann returns for sophomore NXT Gen Cup season
German racer Sophie Hofmann will return to the NXT Gen Cup grid for a second consecutive year.
Hofmann, who brings several years of GT4 experience, made her electric-racing debut in NXT Gen Cup last year—also marking her first campaign in a front-wheel-drive race car. Over the course of 2024, she delivered consistent performances and steadily adapted to the new format, scoring four top-ten finishes, including a season-best sixth place at Hockenheim.
With a year of electric touring car experience behind her, Hofmann is now aiming to build on that foundation in 2025.
“It feels great to be back in the NXT Gen Cup car,” said Sophie Hofmann. “There were a lot of positives to take away from the final weekend at Hockenheim last year, and I’m excited to build on that going into the 2025 season.”
Hofmann’s return adds further strength and depth to the 2025 grid.
“We’re delighted to welcome Sophie back for her second season. She showed strong development last year—especially considering it was her first time in a front-wheel-drive car after competing in GT4—and we’re looking forward to seeing her take the next step in her progression this year,” said Fredrik Lestrup, Founder and Series Manager of NXT Gen Cup.
The NXT Gen Cup season gets under way on 25–27 April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, the first of four championship race weekends in 2025. All races will be broadcast LIVE on YouTube.

The series races together with DTM and is organised through an “arrive and drive” concept, enabling the junior drivers to focus on driving and creating the foundation for a professional racing career.
