Theo Wieder returns for more electric racing action in 2025
After making his electric and touring car debut during the 2024 season finale at the iconic Hockenheimring, Theo Wieder is set to return to the NXT Gen Cup grid—ready to chase new successes in the all-electric championship.
Wieder began his racing career in 2022 in Formula Campus in the Czech Republic, followed by appearances in Formula 4 during the 2023 season. On his path toward a professional racing career, Wieder identified the 2024 NXT Gen Cup season finale as an opportunity to test a new kind of race car—while gaining valuable experience at the legendary Hockenheimring during a DTM race weekend.
His debut saw him finish 15th in one of the heats—an encouraging result that gave him a first taste of the electric touring car championship. Now, Wieder aims to prove himself over the course of a full campaign.
“I learned so much last year at Hockenheim, and I’m really excited to be back this season to discover all the other tracks,” said Theo Wieder. “I’m proud to be part of such an innovative and competitive series that represents the future of racing. Let’s keep pushing and fighting for every position!”
Fredrik Lestrup, founder of NXT Gen Cup, got to know the young German ahead of his debut and quickly saw a talent driven to succeed both on and off the track:
“At NXT Gen Cup, we aim to foster young talent in every aspect of racing—not just behind the wheel. What impressed us about Theo wasn’t only his determination during a race weekend, but also how he manages the commercial side of his program. He’s got grit, and we’re thrilled to welcome him back for a full season. We’re excited to see how he develops throughout the year,” said Fredrik Lestrup.
NXT Gen Cup, the world’s first electric junior touring car series, will once again race alongside DTM—Europe’s premier and best-known racing series—over four race weekends from April to August.
