NXT Gen Cup returns to the streets of Nürnberg
The 2025 NXT Gen Cup campaign continues as the all-electric touring car series heads to the iconic Norisring street circuit for the second race weekend of the season, 4–6 July. Once again running alongside DTM, fans can look forward to a packed weekend of action on one of Europe’s most unique race tracks.
Since its inaugural season in 2023, the NXT Gen Cup has grown in both competitiveness and international interest. The 2025 season opener at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben in April was a clear indication of this progress, with four different race winners across four thrilling contests. With close on-track battles throughout the field, nearly 50,000 fans in attendance witnessed electric racing at its finest.
Dutch talent Lukas Stiefelhagen leads the way
This year’s grid features a mix of returning contenders and exciting newcomers. Dutch driver Lukas Stiefelhagen, a standout during pre-season testing, confirmed his pace at Oschersleben by scoring four podium finishes, including a victory in Race 3. His consistency sees him leading the championship heading into Norisring with 103 points.
Also impressing in the opening round were Austrian Philipp Dietrich and German drivers Maxim Dacher and Julian Würtele, each securing a race win of their own. Dietrich sits just four points behind Stiefelhagen in the standings on 99 points, with Dacher behind in third on 75. But with many points still on offer, the title fight remains wide open.
Lukas Stiefelhagen leads the championship heading into the Norisring race weekend.
Norisring – Weekend schedule
Located in the heart of Nürnberg, the 2.3-kilometre Norisring is known for its high-speed straights and unforgiving braking zones, making it one of the most challenging street circuits in Europe. NXT Gen Cup returns to the venue after last racing here in the 2024 season opener.
This year’s race programme will feature three races: two on Saturday and one on Sunday. Track action begins Friday with two free practice sessions, followed by qualifying on Saturday morning.
Qualifying and all three races will be streamed LIVE on YouTube, complete with expert commentary and in-depth insights.

About NXT Gen Cup
The NXT Gen Cup is the world’s first 100% electric junior touring car cup where young female and male drivers race the LRT NXT1, a fully electric race car based on the MINI Cooper SE road car - engineered and built by Lestrup Racing Team. The series races together with DTM and is organised through an “arrive and drive” concept, enabling the junior drivers to focus on driving and creating the foundation for a professional racing career.
About DTM
DTM is Europe’s premier and best-known racing series and celebrated its 40th birthday in 2024. As one of the most competitive racing series, DTM features seven prestigious brands in its anniversary season. The DTM has a German core, but a strong international fan base. Races are broadcasted live in 150 territories. The series is also a leader in sustainable motorsport. For the second season, all cars are powered by a sustainable fuel made of 50% renewable components. Not only the cars racing in DTM are in the centre of sustainable projects. For the events itself the ADAC as promoter of the DTM offers innovations like an initiative to reduce plastic waste and a digital carpool solution, which has been recognised and awarded by the FIA.
