NXT Gen Cup shifts focus to the 2025 Swedish Junior Championship at Mantorp Park
With the European season now concluded, NXT Gen Cup returns to its roots. On September 18–20, the fully electric touring car series will stage a standalone 2025 Swedish Junior Championship at Mantorp Park.
The series last raced at the iconic Swedish circuit during its inaugural season finale in 2023, before expanding onto the international stage in 2024. Now, with the support of the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation, NXT Gen Cup reclaims its status as an official national championship event at this year’s Grand Finale at Mantorp Park.
Drivers of all nationalities aged 14 to 25 are eligible to enter and compete for the official 2025 Swedish Junior Championship title.
Action-packed three-race weekend
The weekend format mirrors the structure seen in parts of the international season – a total of six sessions, including three action-packed sprint races.
The grid for Race 1 and Race 3 will be set by each driver’s fastest and second-fastest qualifying times respectively. Race 2 will see a reversed grid for the top eight finishers from Race 1 – ensuring maximum excitement and unpredictability.
Alongside the Swedish Junior Championship races, fans can also look forward to action from leading national categories including Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, Porsche Sprint Challenge, Radical, and V8 Thunder Cars.

Star-studded grid
The 2025 Swedish Junior Championship will showcase a star-studded lineup, featuring some of Sweden’s most promising young talents. For several drivers, it will mark their first competitive outing in the all-electric NXT Gen Cup car – based on the MINI Cooper SE and equipped with a 30kWh battery, 230hp, and push-to-pass functionality.
Fans can also expect to see familiar front-runners returning from the 2023–24 seasons and the recently concluded 2025 campaign.
The full entry list will be announced in the coming days.
Races 2 and 3 from the Swedish Junior Championship will be streamed LIVE on the official NXT Gen Cup YouTube channel, complete with expert commentary and behind-the-scenes coverage.

About NXT Gen Cup
The NXT Gen Cup is the world’s first 100% electric junior touring car cup where young female and male drivers race the LRT NXT1, a fully electric race car based on the MINI Cooper SE road car – engineered and built by Lestrup Racing Team. The series races together with DTM and is organized through an “arrive and drive” concept, enabling the junior drivers to focus on driving and creating the foundation for a professional racing career.
