Viviann Ehrl set for NXT Gen Cup rookie campaign

As the countdown continues to the 2025 NXT Gen Cup season opener at Oschersleben, the grid keeps growing with fresh talent. The latest addition is German driver Viviann Ehrl, who is set to make her official car racing debut in the all-electric touring car championship.

Ehrl has a deep-rooted connection to the automotive world. Growing up around her family’s car dealership, she developed a passion for vehicles early on—one that now fuels her ambition to race. Joining NXT Gen Cup as her first step into competitive motorsport, Ehrl is eager to take on the challenge.

“I’ve always loved exploring different sports, and joining NXT Gen Cup is such an exciting way to connect my passion for driving with my family’s automotive roots. I’m here to learn, compete, and push my limits this season,” said Viviann Ehrl.

Fredrik Lestrup, founder of NXT Gen Cup, believes the series' structure is the ideal platform for emerging drivers like Ehrl:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Viviann to the NXT Gen Cup family—and to see her line up alongside her brother Bennet on the grid. The format we’ve created—with equal cars, shared data and video, and one-on-one engineering support—is designed to help new drivers gain experience quickly. We’re here to accelerate Viviann’s development, and I believe she’ll do a fantastic job,”said Fredrik Lestrup.

NXT Gen Cup, the world’s first electric junior touring car series, will once again race alongside DTM—Europe’s premier and best-known racing series—over four race weekends from April to August.

The series races together with DTM and is organised through an “arrive and drive” concept, enabling the junior drivers to focus on driving and creating the foundation for a professional racing career.

About DTM
DTM is Europe’s premier and best-known racing series and celebrated its 40th birthday in 2024. As one of the most competitive racing series, DTM features seven prestigious brands in its anniversary season. The DTM has a German core, but a strong international fan base. Races are broadcasted live in 150 territories. The series is also a leader in sustainable motorsport.
